What is the strangest place you have ever been?

... and speaking of Cuba, I guess this may not sound strange, but 16 year old me thought it was. First time I went to Cuba, in 1981. I found the place surreal. It looked like time stood still in 1953: the buildings, the cars, the clothing... going to the Tropicana felt like being in a gangster movie set.

Probably the most surreal part, was me going to a local nightclub. away from the tourist spots. They were playing mambo, and just about everyone was dancing, and there were some fantastic dancers there, but everyone was so serious. Seemed like no one was talking to each other, just moving to the music, not enjoying it.
