I haven't seen this show (although I am planning to), but this post reminded me of a short story by Ray Bradbury called All Summer in a Day and the 30 minute PBS show that was made from it.
it always stuck with me and I always think of it when I see something in the news about bullying in schools
so the book does some good work with indicating what changes the body would go through growing up in low artificial gravity (among other 'sciency' things)
1st season doesn't do that much with those ideas ( a lot bc the visuals - 'belters' are MUCH taller and thinner - and the show just did not have that kind of budget at the beginning) - but ever since then it's sprinkled a lot of 'real science' in with its scifi political/crime noir/action thriller story
so those elements that other shows would want to 'hand wave' away - it wants to delve into the weird science things
