I normally turn the network announcers off and I stopped watching the post game shows, but I went ahead and stayed on the couch when it went to SportsCenter.
As expected they massaged they Brady and Manning narratives. There was praise of Brees but in the context you can’t really put him right on the same level as Manning and both were obviously to be underneath Brady.
The media will contort the facts or move the goalposts as needed, with a straight face.
Unfortunately, somehow the team has to push through and win a Super Bowl. That’s the only way you will dent the narrative at all.
The Super Bowls are a team effort top to bottom and Brady has more or less every season been on the most complete team in the league from management, coaching, defense etc.
Brees for too many seasons was saddled with historically bad defenses or defenses that couldn’t close a playoff game.
That’s the only difference I see between Brees and Brady and Manning legacies.
In terms of pure talent to play the position I just can’t see much daylight between at all, if any. All the times Brees delivered a clutch score late in a game to take a lead,..I‘d bet Brady and Manning haven’t had as many Ws (certainly not on the playoffs) taken from them.
