A Critical Assessment of Drew's Postseason Career

What really will baffle you though is when you look at the eight QBs Drew has lost to and has been outplayed by in the postseason.

Chad Pennington
Rex Grossman
Matt Hasselbeck
Alex Smith
Russell Wilson
Case Keenum
Jared Goff
Kirk Cousins

While I admire your conviction, just a few small addenda. Games don't play out like 1 on 1 basketball, so it's not really a matter of one QB vs. another, even if the media sells it that way. Consider the following:
1. 2006 - Rex Grossman = Drew vs. Fred "Nowhere in the Vicinity" Thomas + Saints "Don't Tackle Anybody" defense
2. 2010 - Matt Hassleback = Drew vs. Superbowl Hangover + Saints "Don't Tackle Marshawn Lynch" defense
3. 2011 - Alex Smith = Drew vs. + Saints "Don't Tackle Vernon Davis" defense
4. 2017 - Case Keenum = Drew vs. Marcus "Don't Tackle ANY Vikings in the playoffs" Williams
5. 2018 Jared Goff = Drew vs. Refs

In all fairness, 5 out of those 8 losses, he's dealt with incompetence all around him from either a wuss defense or refs who don't know their butt from a hole in the ground.

Now let's talk about Russ Wilson. Seahags were THE "team of destiny" that year. They had an outstanding defense and we were relying on 2 UDFAs to run the ball for us. Seattle also had 3-4 very dangerous recievers that year in Kearse, Tate and the other guy that's still with them (Godwin?). Those guys were thier version of MCMH (Meach, Colston, Moore and Henderson). Seatlle should have won and did.

Now about Kirk Cousins....yep Drew screwed up in one of the most important games of his professional life. And a lot of it had to do with him not being mobile at age 41. Some of it had to do with the lack of offensive threats and poor calls. But I still think it is a bit fair to say that yes, if he was as hungry as he was in 2009, he could have led this team to victory over an inferior 2019 Minnesota team.

I also think your underrating the 2009 Cardinals and Vikings. Those teams were packed with talent and in the end Brees outscored Farve despite a lackluster defensive effort. Payton Manning went on to another superbowl, also, so you know he wasn't entirely old or finished after SB 44.

But it doesn't matter where I stand on Brees. I'm old school. If he can still get us to the playoffs next year, I'm happy with that. I'm sure if you put a brick wall offensive line (like 2009) in front of him and give him an arsenal of playmakers, yes he can win another superbowl or at least a few playoff victories. On that note, I won't feel sorry for him if we think we can do that same thing with another QB - let's face it - he brought it on himself this year.
