i’d start off Googling how to play the three basic chords, G, C and D.. once you have those down, which doesnt take very long, you have a foundation to play a ****load of songs.
There are lots of chord apps, Chuck mentioned one above, the one i use is Ultimate Guitar, and i really like it.. Just dive in, take your time and enjoy it.. for me, the hardest thing at first was figuring out the strumming.. then adding that in with chord progressions.. and then trying to sing along with what i’m playing.. if you’ve ever learned how to juggle, for me it was a lot like that, first one ball, then two, then all three.
Also some great advice i received early on is try to practice every day, even if it’s only for 10 minutes.. dont feel like you need to set aside an hour or two, even a few minutes of practice goes a long way.. And once you have the basic chords down, some songs i liked to play that are relatively easy are: Can’t You See (Marshall Tucker Band), Leaving on a Jet Plane (PP & M), there’s this song from the movie Juno i liked and found easy to play called Anyone Else But You and Norwegian Wood by The Beatles .
Just dont make it more complicated than it is; dont worry about mastering music theory, just learn the bare basics, and try to make it fun, by playing songs that you like as soon as possible.
