Wilson giving up starting QB spot to Drew for the Pro Bowl today (1 Viewer)

Talk about someone who gets it.

Much love to Russell Wilson in his immense respect for the GOAT.
Y’all remember the year he got hurt in the pro bowl and Sean was the coach pulled him out. Honestly i don’t like him even playing on the game. It should be pro bowl flag football.

Brees wants to continue to play, in my opinion. He is still better than most of those yokels playing QB in the NFL. The problem will be how much will his agent commend and can the Saints afford it. With Teddy likely being gone, that is $7.5 million the Saints can use toward resigning Taysom Hill who only made $2.5 last year. They can get a 3rd string back up to sign a cap friendly deal.

As of today, the saints are about $12 million under the cap ($199 million expected NFL cap plus 3 million carry over for $202 million total) for 2020. Brees then accounts for $21.3 million. Leaves roughly $181 million to current players and sign players for 2020.

That’s why I said it “feels like”. Definitely feels that way, but understand that it’s more than likely just a gesture of respect
Mad respect for player to idol. Remember RW idolized DB for many years before he went to the pros. They are still friends and the ultimate in respect is to give the nod to your hero.

I don't know that this necessarily correlates with retirement I think this is more about giving Brees 2 series to start the game, and head over to the sidelines and just watch his 3 boys and have fun with them the rest of the game.

Makes no sense for a 41 year old Quarterback to be taking 2nd half snaps, late into the 4th quarter of an exhibition game where the finality starts to ramp up and players will start playing for those Winning cash bonuses. Strategic move probably as well as if the game is tight in the 4th quarter that new 4th & 15 onside replacement attempt might come into play and you probably want Russ as your QB to attempt those.
?Cuz Drew’s arm is so weak he can’t complete a 15 yard pass?

Not what I inferred at all.

The later the game goes on the more competitive and feisty it's going to get, the Pass rush is going to get amped up and TJ Watt / Vonn Miller will not be playing 'scrimmage ball' on a 4th & 15 attempt late in the game with money on the line. (we're already seeing that with Jamal Adams hitting like it's a real game)

This is a move to save Drew from exposing him to potential hits later in the game, Russ understands that.

Taysom only made 645K last year and 1.665M for his first 3 year contract.

This doesn't make me feel better about Drew coming back...
You got to be kidding. This may have nothing to do with his decision, but more to do with respect.

at least that’s my take. Could be wrong would not be the first time
