Seems like every other team expected to sign Bridgewater (Speculation)
I believe all signs are pointing to Teddy Bridgewater in New England. Tom Brady has done an awful bloody lot of moves to exit the Foxboro area and that organization to come back at this point. And if he indeed does move on, the Patriots are very limited for options. If you look through all the QB free agents, either the young ones lack the wins or don't fit the 'Patriots Way' or the older options would essentially be lesser versions of Brady. If you want to start over with a rookie, you've only got a late first rounder without much capitol to move up into the Top 10 to get an elite prospect.
Enter Mr. Bridgewater. A player in the sweet spot of 26-27 who is young, yet experienced. Is regarded as an intelligent player who can learn and execute multiple, even complicated offenses. Or in the Patriots' case, an offense built on shorter passes with only occasional long balls, something Teddy has a career's worth of experience in. He has an extremely compatible personality that you could easily picture working with Daniels or Belichek without conflict, and if there are concerns about him being overwhelmed to take over a franchise run by an elite SB winning coach and a Hall of Fame quarterback? well guess what? He just excelled in that situation in New Orleans. He's proven.
And just for one little more bit, along with Jimmy Garropolo and Johnny Manziel, Teddy was one of the only quarterbacks who Bill Belichek interviewed pre-draft of 2014. One might even guess that if he was available the Patriots might've drafted Teddy instead of Jimmy back then! But what one can definitely conclude is there was initial interest and one would logically conclude based on Belichek's track record with players on other teams, that Bill has likely been keeping tabs on Teddy's career .
Considering Tom Brady is not likely to choose the worst team imaginable for his swan song, I cannot picture the Patriots blowing up their team for a 2021 rookie, while watching Tom Brady march to another Super Bowl. They're going to want to win now. And when teams like the Chargers, Bears, Panthers, Bucs, and others start waving money around at Teddy, the Patriots will have no choice but to ante up. And they've already tipped their hand with the latest Brady rumors that they have $30m earmarked for the QB. Once Brady closes in on a new team, the Patriots will move quickly on Bridgewater.
