Sean Payton on Drew's final season and Taysom Hill (on ESPN, March 31st) Video available now (2 Viewers)

we dont even know if they are playing this season....its good it was a 2 year contract for Drew. All I know is im gonna miss his accuracy and leadership. I hope whoever we get as a starter steps up cause they have huge shoes to fill.

Ha. I heard that as well and though I did make note of it, I wouldn't cast this is brass just yet. Amazing how we make these football players and coaches out to be rock stars and hang on every word.

Well, if he indeed told other players at the Pro Bowl he was going to retire, I can surely see him playing his final year this season.
Mentally I'm ready for the change, but not emotionally.

That could change, of course, but with all of the smoke that came from the Pro Bowl and recent articles suggesting he is eventually headed to the MNF broadcast booth, it's really not that much of a surprise that he's anticipating 2020 being the last ride.

So we're saying he has a history of rethinking these decisions

We definitely need another capable veteran QB on the roster. Scary thought if something happens to Drew, somebody really need to step up whether its Taysom or ???. A rookie QB probably wont get enough reps to be effective. I'm hoping Taysom turn out to be the real deal so we could really open the play book with deep passes to loosen up the defenses.

The problem is, how many capable veterans will sign up knowing they are the #3 QB. I think it's smart to pursue a vet, but a rookie will likely end up being the best talent you can get (and for cheap).

I could see a capable vet signing if this is honestly (I still don't believe it) Brees last season. Hill is still an unknown at the QB position. We really don't know how good of a QB on a game to game basis he can be.

I think he would have retired by now (IF) they had won the superbowl 2 seasons ago.. We're on borrowed time so to speak

I don’t believe that Payton would put Taysom in so much risk if he really believed that he was the next heir apparent to Brees. I believe we draft a QB this year and he will compete with Hill for the 2021 season.
