(Article) Rex Ryan on Brady Belichick and Geno Smith.

I mean, Ryan did make it to back-to-back AFC Championship games in 2009 and 2010 (as a wild card team both years) with Mark Sanchez as his QB.
Team success doesn't always equal quarterbacking success. Those defenses were outstanding. Sanchez was a reasonable game manager his first three years in the league (his third year being the best but they went 8-8 as the defense wasn't as good). After that he disappeared. Sanchez was considered a better prospect than Geno Smith and still lasted only 4 years as a full time starter in the league. Iirc, Sanchez's best stretch was with the Eagles.

I just think Ryan is being unfair by throwing Geno Smith out there when he doesn't have the best history when it comes to developing quarterbacks or even supporting the offensive side of the ball.
