2020 NFL Draft: LSU and the Saints
By Shea Dixon | 247 Sports
Two years ago, the New Orleans Saints made the move to draft an LSU player, selecting interior offensive lineman
Will Clapp in the seventh round.
With the 2020 NFL Draft approaching this month, could
Sean Payton and the Saints dip back into the pool of LSU prospects following the team's National Championship season?
There are many reasons to believe that might be the case given the Saints have position needs that match up with a handful of LSU's 20 draft-eligible prospects, Payton and Co. are as familiar with LSU's prospects as any team and the Tigers won the national title in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
So far this offseason, the Saints made some notable moves in free agency to add a starting wide receiver in
Emmanuel Sanders and some extra help at defensive back with the addition of
Malcolm Jenkins.
The team also resigned defensive tackle
David Onyemata and left guard
Andrus Peat. In addition to adding Jenkins to the roster, the Saints picked up the fifth-year option on cornerback
Marshon Lattimore and inked cornerback
Janoris Jenkins to a two-year extension.
