Why NOT To Expect LB, QB, WR at #24...

'13 Vaccaro and '16 Rankins I got on the nose before the draft started, but we had top 15 picks and the spot was easier to predict bc most pundits also called those picks, so these are probably the 2 picks most people got correct.

Those are the 2 I was very certain about for a while before the draft, but there were also a couple more I was good with too. They are in my post record if you care to look it up, and I also had another name I went by from 2007-2010, but I don't want to divulge that name.

- I had zero idea about Davenport in '18.
- When Lattimore was available in '17, I knew it'd be him although I thought maybe Hooker at FS was an option there, but I had zero idea about Ramrod later on.
- '15 we went with Anthony at LB but I thought we'd go with LB Kendricks from UCLA - god I wish we had. So I was correct w position but way off w the player.
- There were rumbles about Cooks in '14, so that wasn't a shock when we traded up for him, but it's not like it was a prediction I got right or anything. I wanted WR Marquise Lee if we had stayed put.
- '11 I thought we were gonna get Ingram, but then we got Cam, and then traded back up for Ingram, so all of that was a shock, and I was way off.
- '10 was a complete shock for me with PRob. I had no idea who he was really. I don't really remember for definite who I thought we'd go for or need - looking back at the draft maybe Sergio Kindle for some reason.
- '09 A lot of people had Jenkins slotted to us, and I think that's what I thought too. I also thought Cushing or Matthews was an option.
- '08 most people knew it'd be Sedrick Ellis.
- '07 Meachem shocked me just like the PRob pick bc I thought we were gonna go TE. GOD WHY DIDN'T WE DRAFT GREG OLSEN INSTEAD?!?!?! I have made that rant before about the butterfly affect of picks for Shockey, finding a TE, having him help from the WR/TE corps transition after '11, pairing him w Graham....
- '06 Everyone knew it'd be Bush once Houston went with Williams.

I didn't have much time to pay much attention to the draft process before '06 bc I was in high school and was always busy with sports and other things.

I really am torn this year though as I have no idea what to expect. I feel like we usually look for a starter to draft in the 1st, and we usually trade up when we are this far back, but we don't have a 2nd rounder this year, so that may be tough unless we plan on using next year's 1st and or 2nd to get our guy this year.

I could see us moving up for one of the top WRs or LBs bc I think those are our biggest needs, but we don't usually go with what I think is the biggest need. We also love going with OL, DL, and DBs in the 1st, but we have all of those starting spots secured as of right now, so I also don't know about that.

So after all of this talk that no one will probably read, here is my prediction:

If we stay put, and if available, I think we go w LB Queen or Murray. If both are available I think they take Queen. If neither is available then I think w go with the best DB available - S Delpit or one of the CBs like Johnson from Utah.

If we trade up it will be for one of the top 2 WRs, Juedy or Lamb, if they fall past 15. I do not think we move up for Riggs bc those speedy guys would be kinda wasted in this offense right now. LB may be a trade up if Simmons falls.

If we do not trade and those LBs and DBs are gone, we will take the best OL/DL available and idk who those guys are in the late 1st.
