Training camp battle "Big Slot" Position: Krishawn Hogan vs Juwaun Johnson

I'm much more excited about Callaway than either Hogan or Johnson.

Hogan may have straight line speed, but he is NOT a fluid athlete. He's stiff as a board. I'd be shocked if he develops into anything more than a fringe roster, quality blocking WR.

Johnson does have some ability. I'd be interested in seeing how he progresses.

In all likelihood, there will be very little need for designated "big slot". With the addition of Sanders and Trautman, Jared Cook will be the Saints' big slot. What the Saints need is a WR that can make their own plays on the ball down the field. Hopefully Harris, and now Callaway, can help in that regard.
He looks pretty Fluid to me.

The issue with Hogan I think is that he will be entering his 4th year and is in a now or never situation and must finally produce bigtime in order to break the label as only a blocker or special teams ace.

I went back and looked at what film is available on Johnson. He really destroyed soft zone like Colston did and got good body position on a few plays in the redzone unlike Brandon Coleman. I was well aware of his measurables throughout the draft process but I liked several smaller true slot guys better.

The only big slot that I liked above him was Darrell Stewart who played lights out in the NFLPA game. I also liked Kristian Wilkerson who had the second best 3 cone at wr in the draft with a 6.68.

By signing Johnson, Hogan and Humphrey there seems to be some type of design at work to develop a big slot in my opinion.

As far as Calloway goes his play and measurables align more with former Vols wr Justin Hunter.

I don't expect much threat underneath from Calloway at this point but his downfiled potential looks promising.
