This is exactly why we need... and i hate to say it because people automatically get political... UBI.. You know, Universal Basic Income, the thing presidential candidate Andrew Yang was touting a few months ago as something we would need 5 or 10 years down the road becuase of disappearing jobs.. People laughed at him.. well, they’re not laughing now- at least not the ones who are paying attention . /PoliticsOff

We need UBI immediately because too many people are falling through the cracks.. just look at this thread, then multiply that by tens of millions of people.. Gig workers, 1099 contractors, underemployed folks... To me, this situation is a lot like Katrina on a much larger scale, in a lot of ways.. but specifically- in Katrina, lots of crazy ish went down.. but things happened, and then years later , some things were remedied, and there was some accountability.. Now is not the time to ask questions; now is the time to give people money.. and just like in Katrina, where people eventually went to jail in some cases- we can purse fraud charges down the road, and have accountability down the road- but people need money in their hands NOW.. ask questions later.
