Real Estate Agents and Builders to stop using the terms “master bedroom” and “master bathroom”

I understand what you're getting at, but I dont know the source of the quoted part of your post. The word master existed long before slaves were brought to America. So it didn't have it's roots in slavery.

That said, I stated I don't really know where we are in terms of whether the word should be discontinued. If it should be, then by all means let's get rid of it. I just think we should make sure that's the right call. That's all I'm saying.

The quoted part was my attempt to paraphrase the way it's been explained to me. I think I did the general gist of it justice, but who knows. It's not something I have experience with, being a white man.

And I'm with you, I don't feel super strongly about this one particular instance. But it's just one of those things that removing the word removes zero value to society. I think a utilitarian approach is best for this one - greatest good for the greatest number of people.

How many people is keeping the word good for: zero

How many people is removing it good for: no idea, but it's more than zero.

Ergo, get rid of it.
