Yep, was posted this morning. Some people...smh. I don’t how how they live with themselves.

They're complete morons so they don't reflect on the things they do or the consequences of those actions.

Took that global daily record back from Brazil. Wont last long though, we will shatter it tomorrow.

Hey guys, I know that we cross this river every day but there are crocodiles swimming in it now and they've killed a few people, we are gonna have to wait awhile before we go swimming again. If we stop, after awhile the crocs will move on. But if we keep swimming in it, they'll stay and eat more of us.

Some tribe members: Ok. We won't swim.
Other tribe members: IT'S OUR RIGHT TO SWIM WHENEVER WE GOTDAYUM WELL PLEASE AND YOU CAN'T STOP US!!

Some tribal leaders: Don't swim. Stay out of the river for your health and everyone else's.
Other tribal leaders: YOU CANT TAKE AWAY THE RIGHTS OF OUR MEMBERS TO SWIM!! WE ARE OPENING OUR TRIBE FOR SWIMMING!

Weeks later, after more crocodile related deaths:

Some tribal leaders: We are reminding you guys, don't go swimming. It's still entirely too dangerous.
Tribal leaders: The crocodile deaths are exaggerated and we don't think there's a correlation to opening the rivers and the those who have died. A lot of those deaths were from drowning, so we will continue to swim.

Months later, after more crocodile related deaths than EVERY other village BY A LONG SIGHT:

Some tribal leaders: Guys, if you don't have to swim, please don't swim. Crocs are killing villagers at a record pace.
Other tribal leaders: We continue to assert that the crocs are not the problem, some of you guys just can't swim. Your freedom to swim is paramount, you all just need to be better at it.

SMH.
Yeah, but there’s a TGI Friday’s on the other side of the river

People suck. Humans are their own worst enemies. Should've done marshall law at the beginning of this mess. Stay home for 2 weeks or go to jail. Necessity travel only with permissions. What a mess.

Apparently Denmark experimented with opening a few schools before opening them nationwide. In the first few weeks they had to shut the schools back down. Granted, the European countries aren't nearly as tolerant to death as we seem to be. I'm putting school lasting more than a month in the USA at less than 10% and chances of us even getting to that point at about 25%.
We're supposed to start back here August 5th. I'd honestly be surprised if we make it to August 19th before we have to close.

Georgia and South Carolina both setting records today. Georgia breaking the 3k mark quietly in the backdrop of Tx, Fl, Az and Ca. Georgia has a big delay on test results so what we are seeing today is what it looked like 2 weeks ago. Expect big numbers. Friday is typically the peak of the Covid numbers. I bet we are closing on 65k cases reported just tomorrow.

Nashville has shut down bars and inside dining because they are spiking hard as well. By the look of the numbers in the areas that had been doing good, many have stopped going down and some have started going back up.

Next week is going to really be the beginning of some really dark days with hospital capacity and deaths.

Fourth of July is going to curb stomp us.

Our school systems are allowing students to work from home, but also opening up the schools. My wife is a teacher and will have to go into school everyday. This means my son will have to go to his school since we no longer have the option of keeping him home. I don't have WFH options.

None of it is going to matter once schools present themselves as vectors for transmission, which will be mere weeks into the year. They'll have to be shut down. We're playing pretend that there are viable options re: actually attending on campus. It isn't going to work.

I dont think I ever thanked the posters on here for keeping me in their thoughts and prayers

It's likely that I will never have the opportunity to meet you all, but the support from the posters here was greatly appreciated

#5.... Absolutely right.

Americans have no problem to unite against a common enemy. But the issue started when the leadership said there really was no enemy and what there is will be dealt with in no time. When the message should have been unity and protection of fellow Americans.

I don't know how we get out of this wave. I guess it's up to local leaders to decide for themselves at this point. Currently, there is no direction from DC and I don't think there will be. We are left to hope our mayor's and governors have the fortitude to do what's best for all, regardless of the puahback or optics.

So very depressing to watch it all unfold.

It gets weirder and weirder by the day that we're in the midst of the most compelling national crisis of most of our lifetimes and the president isn't really talking much about it, has farmed out management of it to a team designed to be impotent, and is basically blowing it off.

It's just downright bizarre. As someone who spent years studying American history - recent American history (20th Century) - I struggle with imagining how this episode is going to be treated by history. Not well, I imagine.
