Unfortunately, the 10 states are also some of the most Republican leaning states in the country as well and we know the politically driven issues with social distancing, reopening economies and masks also plays a huge part in this and we do not have a state in the top 10 that is Democratic. The Democratic state with the highest case load is California with second place going to Delaware. The two Democratic states that have the hottest summers? California and Delaware. California aslo has one of the most diverse climates of any state in the country. Southern California is very hot while northern California tends to be cooler and along the coast is moderated by cool pacific ocean temps. Then in the mountains in East California it is cool. The breakdown in California trends in that same general direction with Southern California being the hottest and highest concentration of Covid while the Eastern part of the state has the lowest temps and covid density.

The Republican states with the coldest average temps are Alaska, Maine, Wyoming and Idaho. Alaska, Maine and Wyoming are among the lowest covid density states in the country while Idaho is 15th in covid. However, like California, idaho has a diverse climate and Boise has an average high temperature in the month of July in the 90's and Idaho's covid density is focused right over Boise.
