I dont recall anyone from the Saints ever saying it was a suspension. I believe Sean Payton, during oregano, saud it the matter was being handled internally, but wouldn't comment further. Unless im missing something, the suspension angle could have been completely media driven.

It could be as simple as someone from the Saints saying "Micheal Thomas punched a teammate." In the same breath as saying "He will not play minday." And that gets jumbled together and erroneously connected together as "Michael Thomas punched a teammate and will not play monday." The latter insinuates a suspension. But MT also stated he was never going to play Monday, which jives with what most thought even before the fight. So, since he wasn't playing anyway, they just issued a fine and docked him a game check.
