***TROPICAL ALERT*** TROPICAL STORM ETA (Late season tropical outlook discussion)

We got solar panels on our house in 2015. They’ve been a big help to and have kept our energy bills low.

One thing that the rep told us was that in the event of a major power outage, the home could be set to run only on solar power.

Does anyone here in the NOLA area (or anywhere else, I guess) know anything about that?

If it helps, solar company is Posigen. Our home is near Gretna.

You can’t use panels to power your home in an outage unless you invest in some sort of battery setup (which is expensive and takes a certain amount of maintenance).

The problem is that you risk back feeding the grid when the power is out so there is a cutofff where the panels hit your meter so that doesn’t happen.
