***TROPICAL ALERT*** TROPICAL STORM ETA (Late season tropical outlook discussion)

I can’t help but think that by 2020 standards, the SE Louisiana power grid is under-engineered. It’s hard for me to imagine that what’s in place is the best possible mousetrap that can possibly be built.

A power grid can be made much more resistant to wind, can’t it? From an engineering standpoint, I mean. I’m sure the biggest constraint is money rather than technology.

Would it make sense for Entergy to maybe offer bare-bones home generators to their customers? Maybe build the cost into the billing over a period of time? I guess a lot of people would refuse to take on higher rates, though.

Everytime my family/friends come over from Sweden, they mention how our power lines look like a movie scene from the 50s. I love living here, but it’s definitely not due to our “amazing” infrastructure. Slightly off topic, but I moved to the States in the late 90s and I didn’t know anything about writing checks. They don’t exist in the rest of the Western world!

At least we party much better than them!
