Maybe to fulfill the week’s tv contract?
Making a deal with the networks so they’ll be okay with a shortened season?

Could be. I don't know how much the NFL would have to give them back. We could all be watching Heidi before long. I have a lot of anxiety behind it because of how our season is going.

They’re not gonna give any cash back to the networks. If anything, it’ll be reallocated to the next negotiations for the TV rights coming up. My guess would be the networks fighting to get the marquee teams like the Steelers, Chiefs, Saints, or Brady.

Also, just to add speculation as to why they’d go for this week, after this week everyone would have the same number of games so it’ll be easier to go straight into the playoffs.

If they call the regular season after this week and go straight to the playoffs in two-three weeks, the Saints would be the 1 seed in the NFC. I say; DO IT! LOL.

NFL is going to do everything they can to finish the regular season, including waiting for the vaccine to be administered league wide, come end of December/early January.

You would think pro players would be a lot more cautious in their every day lives outside of football. Such as, avoiding family and friends, that are not in their every day lives and knowing who their every day family members have been around.

I have said this at least 2-3 times in this forum.

The Saints as an example, could have isolated very conveniently within the Hyatt hotel, adjacent to the Superdome. All players, coaches and other necessary staff could have been set up without much trouble. The cook staff, custodians...etc., as well. The entire hotel could have been a Saints world of its own from July, to the Saints last game of the season. The dome could have been their practice facility.

This is why I am so critical of the red headed goon in charge. He and his management folks, had 4-5 months to strategize and didn’t. So this is where we are today.

the worst thing is the not knowing how this will pan out
would be devestating to lose the season after so much hard work, praying it does not come to that

The country lost control of it and the NFL is collateral damage. When cases were 500% lower at the start of the season they could pull it off with the testing and precautions in place. Now, it's simply overwhelming everything. The NFL players are part of the society allowing it to spread. Like I said earlier, the NFL managed to hold it off longer than I thought they would. I was thinking week 8 would be about the most we would get. From here out, any games we get are just lagniappe in my eyes.

As far as taking a 1-2 week break goes, that wont work, this wave is still quickly increasing and Thanksgiving is going to send it into hyperdrive.
