I was on the fence between fantastic and awesome. I went with fantastic but either would've worked.

Adding to the possible reasons why, what if a team has the #1 seed in their conference and the bye already locked up by the last week, and the team they're scheduled to play has an outbreak? That team would already be benching their stars/starters anyway, right? That game obviously might affect draft order, possibly other seeding in the playoffs, etc. But to the OP's point, does a team have the "right" to no show via the excuse of "protecting our players and staff from Covid?" It's an interesting thought.

That’s a thread title I expect to see on a Falcons forum. Or a Jets.

Not in my lifetime. This was a curb stomp and I was in the dome. This Denver team went on to play in the SB. It goes to show
how much better the NFC was during that era.

Correction: This Denver team did not go on to play in the SB, this was 1988, SF and Cinci played in the SB at the end if this season. However, they were the defending AFC champs.
