canon is probably the new most overused "term". seriously, anything, including smelling my dog's farts, can be called canon. yes, please judge my dog for being a dog.
not entirely sure about the true meaning behind the origin, but in society, it is definitely becoming a favourite for word of the month, year, etc.
for fork sakes people, research before making a post, or more importantly don't, on twitter, instagram, tiktok, twitter, whatever, ignore.
