NFL Alex Smith to retire (1 Viewer)

I think if he hadnt got injured in 2018, hes a Hall of Famer eventually. He won everywhere. He probably would of played at least till 2023. Which means he would of had the numbers. He might of been light on postseason success. But he would of had chances to improve that if he had 6 more full healthy seasons
I respectfully disagree. Until Kenny Anderson gets in, I can't see the point of even nominating Alex Smith.

Love Alex, but Hall of Famer. Id say a definite no. Im not sure if writer is saying he should or shouldnt go in.

I just read it and he is definitely saying he should be in. Basing it on the comeback, overall “good” numbers and character.

I’m sorry but that all sounds like watering down whats there.

Oh no i dont think Alex Smith gets in. I was just saying if he could of played through 2023, which would been realistic if he didnt get thst injury 2018, then he might of had chance to get in Hall someday.

Yes, you did. I should have read your post more closely.

Solid, fairly long career and won a decent amount everywhere he went. Really liked the guy. Don't think he's a Hall of Fame candidate, but no shame in that. He did about as well as you can without actually getting there.

Matt Ryan has thrown for nearly 20,000 more passing yards throughout his career, more career passing TDs, like Smith, won an NFCCG, and played in a SB, albeit as an actual starter, has won more games than Alex Smith and generally-speaking, is seen as a clean-cut, down-to-earth, hard-working, successful NFL Franchise QB going on close to 15 seasons and is well a liked,.respected and at least in the context of how most Saints fans like me view or feel towards Falcons QB's, is halfway decent. He's a much nicer, law-abiding, honest person then lets say Michael Vick or an insufferable egotistical prick previous Falcons QB's like Jeff George, Bobby Hebert, or even Chris Chandler.

If the recently-retired, legendary Chargers QB Philip Rivers is seen by most NFL analysts, pundits, writers as a borderline HOFer, than Matt Ryan's chances aren't the most favorable right now. If Ryan exceeds 60,000 passing yards plus adds on a few more thousand yards on top of it for good measure by the time his careers over, let's say around 65-66,000x passing yards, in terms of a numbers game measurement, I could support some good arguments being made to allow Matt Ryan being voted into Canton. Throwing for over 60,000 career passing yards is sort of equivalent to NFL TE's surpassing 10,000 receiving yards and I HIGHLY doubt any SR members would argue Jason Witten isn't a future HOFer.
