My paternal grandmother’s maiden name was the same as b’s. We pronounced it Clay-maw.


This is correct.. for some reason, Northerners (anyone from north of I-10) pronounce Louisiana names like Clement with the accent on the second syl-LABLE.. Cle-MAW.. or Bour-GEIOUS... or even Tu-LANE , as in the school... i knew lots of Clements growing up, and it’s pronounced as the quote above states, with the accent on the CLAY... then ‘maw’
