I don't remember the details of it but, around 15 (ish) years ago, Lady Sif died. Somehow, her spirit was in the body of an old human woman who was dying of cancer. There was a body prepared for her but Loki ended up in it.This is my best guess as to the cause of the clutchage of the pearls...
