Preseason 1 Report Card

Taysom is Jekyl and Hyde. First series I thought he was really good. I was ready to admit I was wrong about him and that he was ready to be a starting NFL QB. He looked that good. Very next series, he was terrible.

Jameis started slow but flashed the big play talent he's capable of.

Book certainly looked poised, but the longer he was on the field, the more he seemed to come undone.

Nothing happened last night to be too encouraged or discouraged about Taysom or Jameis. It's still a toss up, and I still give the nod to Taysom based on his running ability. I think the Saints will be better suited with a running QB this year. I think we saw that Book has a lot of work to do, but has the intangibles and poise needed to play at the NFL level. The part we don't know is if that means as a starter or lifetime back up. Way too soon to tell.

As someone else somewhat suggested, all of these guys are phenomenal just for making it to where they are, but being able to do this consistently separates the men from the boys. We're still waiting for the man to emerge, if he does at all.
