Do you think aliens in ufos have visited Earth? (And all things UFO)

Since I have a week to do nothing, 8 binged the showtime series. I don't think there is anything very revealing in it. You could sum up the series saying the there have been a series of self appointed UFO "experts" and simultaneously government disinformation campaigns since the end of WW2. The one part that really had me thinking was the part about the counter intelligence official who may have been responsible for another man's obsessive belief in aliens to the point he was committed to an institution. The insane guy wasn't wrong in that he was seeing things near an air base just not aliens. In the age of the internet, it doesn't take much to get people to believe in something.
I can understand your skepticism, and I view a lot of the info in the same light. But, let's just shine a light on the one thing I can speak confidently about, Kevin Day. In the show, they label him as "Chief Radar Operator". This is such a generic title that it is laughable. His rating/ranking was OSCS, Operations Specialist, Senior Chief. That's an E8 in enlisted terms and they are regularly more highly regarded as for their knowledge in everything that happens in CIC (Combat Information Center) than many of the high ranking officers that also stand watch there. He was also an AICS, Air Intercept Controller, Supervisor. It's a guarantee that he is very versed in Air Warfare. As an OS, I can promise you that he was well versed in Anti Air Warfare as evidence by his sitting watch as the AAWC (Anti Air Warfare Coordinator) as well as Anti Surface and Anti Submarine Warfare. He is also a qualified ESWS, Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, which means he knows how everything on the ship works, from the top of mast to the keel. A very intelligent person.

I say all this for one point. Everyone wants to downplay the expertise these people have in their particular station. "Oh, he is just a radar operator, meh." When the actual truth is that some of these people are very knowledgeable and their reasoning skills have been honed by years of training and actual real life situations.
