But, this game also made me appreciate that those “dink and dunks” that so many malign are harder to complete than folks recognize. There is an art to throwing them and if you don’t get it down right then disaster can quickly ensue.
Exactly. And I still believe that people are over emphasizing the deep ball. Payton has had three different QB’s line up under center these past two seasons. The deep ball may have been dialed up a total of six times between them all. It’s the mastery of timing and the short to intermediate passing game that has made the Saints consistently potent. It’s ball control and efficiency. It’s also knowing how to put touch on the the throws.Do you mean these years?
