My opinion on these things is does it really serve the story? These things are always done in poor taste if its just for representation purposes. You've now made a distinction of a characteristic of a character, I.E sexual identity. If this serves no purpose other than, "oh, by the way, he's bi, gay or etc, its very poor writing. Now, in these types of stories, are we exploring issues that Bi sexual people face? In this universe where this is somehow relevant? Is it being done to educate that people with this sexual identity exist and it can even encompass superheroes like Superman? Does it overtake his identity of becoming Superman as the issues go on?
These things in western media aren't done very well, its mostly cheap pandering without being remotely creative at all. While this is the son of Clark kent, its still being sold as superman. I would rather see more unique stories that feature new characters rather than just lazy slapping a "Oh hey look, superman is x now"
Cheap pandering, poor writing, is the reason western comics will never eclipse Japanese Manga. Characters being bi or gay in Japanese manga have been a thing for decades but the main difference is, those characters are usually way better developed and the books are at least entertaining and have unique and creative stories.
