This is what I do. Stay in my bubble of roughly no more than 5-10 miles as much as possible. I live in Mesquite (east part of DFW) and my wife and I both work for the local school district. I hate getting anywhere near Dallas proper. Fun fact: you can drive in any direction (I'm assuming from the center) in DFW for an hour and still be in DFW.
