This is what I do. Stay in my bubble of roughly no more than 5-10 miles as much as possible. I live in Mesquite (east part of DFW) and my wife and I both work for the local school district. I hate getting anywhere near Dallas proper. Fun fact: you can drive in any direction (I'm assuming from the center) in DFW for an hour and still be in DFW.

With or without traffic? Cuz, you can get from downtown Dallas and head east to Greenville in about an hour. Is Greenville considered as part of DFW? You can also get from downtown, head south to just about Hillsboro in an hour. That's definitely not DFW.
