Actually you do. The sensitivity of Lachman test is 95%. The X-ray is done to look at coinciding fractures (Segond fracture) and the MRI is done to confirm diagnosis and exclude other injuries such as other ligaments or meniscal injuries. A decent Sports Med doc will make the diagnosis without imaging.
