Philip Rivers

No, he wasn't "bad in his last season at Indy." He played all 16 games, threw for over 4000 yards, his TD to Interception ratio was 24-11, his completion percentage was 67.96%, and QB rating was 97. Moreover, the Colts went 11-5 last year with Rivers. Without him, they are now 3-5. At 39, he is still younger than Brees last year. I don't understand all the hating of Rivers. No one is asking him to be the long term future or claiming he is still an elite QB at this age. But, given our realistic options at this point in the season, I would much rather have him on the team, than not. Of course, there would also be a certain poetry to Rivers following Brees in New Orleans, given there history in San Diego. Although the Saints miraculously won with Trevor Siemian on Sunday, I there are some good reasons as to why he was only 7th round draft pick, a present day third string QB, had a lifetime QB rating of 79.1, and had thrown only 6 passes in 4 years until Sunday.
