Hill vs Siemian why is there a debate?
I feel like some of you were happy Jameis got hurt and are routing for him not to be back with the team. Sad.
I understand this feeling but I don't think it's that cut and dry. I don't think those folks are actually "happy" per se that Winston got hurt. I think they are happy to possibly see Hill get an opportunity to prove them right.
From the start, I felt that Winston gave us the better chance to win especially given his talents and the coaching and mentoring he got from Payton and Brees. To me and others, it seemed that some people were ready for any little mistake that Winston made to yell "see I told you he hadn't changed " or "he's the same Winston I thought he was."
Winston wasn't free from guilt for making some of the plays that they were pointing to. The thing is, coaching was fixing that. Winston wasn't taking the chances he did in the 1st 2-3 games. His deep balls were a thing of beauty. He began to realize that getting the ball to AK41 was just as good as hitting on a 20 yard pass. The running game was making his play-action deadly and he was using his legs. In the process, we were winning games with turnover free, ball control football and tough defense. And there were still people who refused to or found it difficult to give Winston any credit despite throwing 14 TD's with 3 interceptions to undrafted free-agent WR's behind a patchwork Oline.
Well now the dog has caught the car so to speak. We'll see if those microscopes still works if Hill struggles should he get the nod from Payton. It won't be hard to spot the excuses. Can't complain about the offensive line and can't complain about the WR's. That's been done to no avail.
