Tired of Disappointment.

I agree we're fine b/c we are what we are and since Payton and Brees, that's a good football team w/ a good organization leading it. That will pretty much make the playoffs every year. Regular season, we just play down to bad teams and that's a fact since Payton took over but yes we have won more overall during the regular season since Payton took over as well.

The constant heartbreak/tough losses seem to be when we get to the playoffs. Our defense was crap before the last four years but then as the defense was getting better, the offense seemed to be less than stellar. The Minnesota loss, the Rams no call, then losing to two lesser teams in playoffs in the last four years just makes us feel it even more, the losing. Now, judging by today's games, the same things that had us lose in those playoff games, reared their ugly head today, bad offense, bad clock mangement, penalities, a shaky OL, a defense that can't hold a team from scoring w/ little time on the clock. These things are on repeat and that's the issue. Payton and the players need to clean it up but esp in the playoffs when it really matters.
I don't mind people constantly grieving over the Minnesota Miracle or No Call. Those were peak fan heartbreaks. The Vikings and Bucs playoff losses are losses that are atypical of playoff games (only 1 team can win it all) but are compounded more because of the Minnesota Miracle and No Call.

In a vacuum, many fanbases would KILL for the success we've had. It's unfortunate about our playoff losses and REALLY unfortunate that if the refs throw the flag in 2018 then this run we are on is considered one of the greatest runs in NFL history. But some of the "woe is me" after today's loss is still silly, especially because one could argue us being 5-3 is a miracle considering all the talent we lost, injuries we've had, and hardships we've faced like hurricanes uprooting the team from their homes.
