OBJ is going to be a FA again this offseason. If this comes out as a multiyear deal, its going to include a bunch of voidable years and signing bonus spread out so that he can hit the market again. Meaning more dead money for us in future years for a 9 week rental.
It’s already been reported that SP is giving OBJ a vision of keeping him more than one year if he wants. I’m sure that included a deal with $ close to where we value him right now.
I do think the voidable year scenario is most likely. But I also think SP is pitching OBJ on the idea of this being more than a 9-week rental.
