Even the 1972 Dolphins ... they played most of the season with their backup QB Earl Morrall. Bob Griese came back to start in the Super Bowl. That was a heckuva hard line Don Shula drew about starters not losing their jobs due to injury: "Thanks for getting us to 14-0 and an AFC title -- Bob's back now, so take a seat!" Would not happen today.
