Obviously Stewart lost control of his emotions and didn't respond well. I would still say intentionally smashing someone in the face to the point of drawing blood is more flagrant.

Yeah. It kinda amazes me (not) of the LeBron crew running to his defense when video evidence is clear in what he did. And to be clear, the video shows LeBron watching as he hits him. The whole "he tried to apologize" shtick is just another tactic of trying to pursey his way out of looking like the bad guy.
