in the 1970s (when I was a kid) multiple members of my family were involved in an ownership group that had a handful of KFC franchises in MS. When the real Col. Sanders died (I met him before that, lol) his other partners sold the main company that licensed the franchises and sold certain products to the franchisees to PepsiCo, which also owned Pizza Hut at that time. Long story short, PepsiCo ruined everything related to food quality and my family sold out to PepsiCo because they didn't want to be a part of where things were going. Copeland and Sanders actually cared about food quality and their franchisees. The big corporations, not so much. (big surprise huh?)
