Payton has spent a long time building up the staff he wants. He could take off the off-season with some input in the draft and let his people coach until July. They have a lot of pieces in place and I’m sure the team would let him do this.
Dude is just on vacation after a ridiculously challenging season. He's not running away from a "rebuild" because Brees retired last season...that's the last thing a person like him would do.
