So honestly how will you feel if Payton eventually ends up coaching the Cowboys?

I get what you're saying, but the Saints can always take their ball and go home so to speak. They could simply not let Payton off the hook until 2024. I don't know that they would do that, but they would still have some leverage. Certainly less than now though.

I do think Patyon taking a break for 22 is legitimate and that it's a definite possibility he's done with coaching. Time will tell I suppose.

I think that's true as well. I think he gave everything he had and is ready for a break and honestly doesn't know how he will feel in a year. He may get the itch back, but he also may find that he likes getting away from the grind and enjoying the fruits of his labors.

Either way, it was a great ride and I wish him well!
