03-03-22 Scouting Combine starts today.....Who's watching?
I suspect the reason is because the Big 10, outside of Ohio State, isn't really know to be a league with speed so seeing him making plays in the Big 10 doesn't really excite anyone. That's why the RAS score is going to be important for a guy his size who played in the Big 10.
That being said, I'm not saying he won't be a great player since I haven't really watched him. I'm just trying to explain why he may not be getting a lot of attention and why the Combine and his Pro Day would be very important for a guy like him because it gives objective measures of his athletic talent.
I think you're correct. Big10 is for beefy corn-fed linemen, right?! LOL!
But while we're talking about PSU prospects, Dotson may be the only offensive player worth looking at, but that PSU defense has several legit NFL prospects coming out. Cream of the crop is Jaquan Brisker, and YES HE CAN PLAY SAFETY! We drafted Marcus Williams and lived through his growing pains, and now that he's finally rounding into form as a top safety in the NFL, I'd like to keep the dude. Top dollar is due for top talent, but he's earned it, IMO, and he's only 25 years old. But if we can't retain him, Brisker is a drop-in replacement. ALWAYS around the ball, causing mayhem and creating takeways. Great range & speed. I'd prefer an offensive player in the 1st, but if Williams gets away, safety will become a priority and Brisker may sneak into the lower 1st. I'd prefer him in the 2nd, but not sure he'll be there at our 2nd pick. PSU has an edge rusher, Arnold Ebiketie (sp?) that also has a knack for getting to QBs, frequently. He'll definitely be solid, perhaps even special. We're set at Edge, IMO, but whoever takes him will be getting a baller. And there are 3 solid LBs on that defense that are going to be playing NFL ball this year. With DD nearing the end, I'd like to see Ellis Brooks in B&G. Dude can hit hard, cover TEs, and rarely makes mistakes. Going to be a starter somewhere...might as well play behind DD until DD hangs up the cleats, or Brooks can supplant him. The other 2 LBs, Luketa and Smith are solid, if unspectacular, at least by standards of "Linebacker U" and will probably start somewhere in the NFL next year. Of those 3, I'd prefer Brooks in the mid-rounds. The PSU defense was the strength of that team, by far, last season, with several graduating seniors who are all likely to play in the NFL. The above are likely starters somewhere, IMO. Depending on how the Saints FA goes, I'd be interested in Brisker and Brooks. Both playmakers! FWIW...
