Inflation here? gas/grocery prices just continue to climb

My broker sounded something between scared and just plain sad when she called to tell me it was time to renew and what our options were. She's a broker and doesn't just represent one company, so she had already done a lot of shopping, and it was bleak.

For the same exact coverage this year, after shopping around, we still went up about 35%. I've never filed a homeowner's claim in 16 years of ownership. This is in South MS.

Property taxes also went way up, so our monthly mortgage payment has taken a significant jump over the last couple of years.

I too am a "broker" ( but its actually "independent agent" in that we are not "captive" to one carrier- we have multiple carriers to access )

The issue is no competition- we have lost 4 Homeowner markets just from Ida alone. Doesnt sound like much when you hear Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon tell you that we have over 30 homeowner markets in Louisiana.

Well Jim, how many of those are writing coverage south of I10?? Oh you dont know? let me fill you in. Maybe 10 . And of those 10, how many are writing at REASONABLE rates? SIX?

And now 4 are gone.

I dont give 2 shirts about carriers writing insurance in West Monroe or Natchitoches because those carriers dont offer coverage here. Makes me mental sometimes lol
