That may be so, but the proportion of automobiles burning gasoline is on a steep decline and you only to look at the ever increasing pace of auto manufacturer's announcements.

The new 1200 hp Maserati looks cool. The new Porsche Taycan is cool. The 718 and upcoming 911 are going to be silly cool. That new Ford Pickup is incredible....

But my point was more basic.

Every single time fuel prices go up there is a trained and predictable response that shows pictures of flooded tesla charger stations and warns of the pollution due to batteries. It's similar to the landfill warnings for windmill blades.
