Walter Football's Take on the Winston Signing

This comment from Walter Football is particularly dumb. He's not the long term answer? So I guess that's why the Saints only signed him to a 2 year deal. And since he is on a cheap 2 year deal, it won't stop them from pursuing other options if Winston doesn't continue to improve and work out in the next 2 years. So, how could the signing be damaging in the long run?
I’m glad you laid this out and saved me the keystrokes. He doesn’t even follow his own reasoning.

This is ideal as can be for the Saints given that the marquee guys are all tied up. You re-sign a player who was ascending in your system before injury. You get him on a contract that allows both sides wiggle room. If he pans out, then we can offer him a lucrative deal and hopefully keep him. If he doesn’t, then no harm no foul and it doesn’t hamstring us for years to come.

If we couldn’t get a Russell, Rodgers, or Watson🥴, then getting Jameis back in house was the absolute best fall back plan.
