Underhill: Saints talking with FA wide receivers

I think the difference is production vs the eye test.

TQS-IR will not get that kind of money from us or anyone else. He is also not looked at as a legitimate WR2. stats don't tell the whole story. TQS-IR got lots of playing time because we had a depleted WR corps and he was on the field by necessity.

MVS has been fighting for reps behind Devonte Adams, Randall Cobb, and Aaron Lazard. Devante alone has had over 600 targets since MVS get to Green Bay. He hasn't really had a chance to show his full potential. He plays in more games than Smith but fewer snaps per game.

Lots of TQS-IR's snaps come in fewer games (cause he's injured) and he's playing nearly every down (Especially the last two seasons) He's had the opportunity to be featured, but MVS has not.

Yeah I guess that it's perception and projection along with TQS's injury history, but according to what ComplexKid posted on the other thread MVS and TQS had a similar number of snaps over their 4 years in the NFL and their stats are still similar. TQS even has more TDs.

I guess they are just betting that MVS has untapped potential and I'm trying to figure out how he seems like he has #2 WR potential when TQS pretty clearly does not? I get that film and the eye test can differ from production for college players, but when two guys are in the NFL at the same time for the same number of years with similar snap counts, and similar production, it would seem that would have to mean a lot about who and what a player is. I just don't know how they can think he is that good when his production is so close to TQS with a similar number of snaps and all with a better QB in Rodgers. I mean, Brees is a HoF QB, but Rodgers has been outplaying him the last couple years.
