Chiefs bested offers from Saints, Packers to sign WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling

Will Fuller is the only decent WR on the market left. They need to trade for a WR at this point (B. Cooks/D. Parker)

You can take two clear conclusions this off-season.

- The wide receiver free agent market is getting ridiculously expensive. Players are getting way more than that is worth.
- This is great class of rookie receivers, both in talent and numbers.

Teams are learning this and will be preparing to act accordingly.

Teams that don't seem to have a need at the position will be taking rookie receivers, hoping to find great talent at cheaper contracts.

After the draft, many veterans that will be looking for an expensive contract on 2023 will be either released or traded.

I will take a good look at teams that have an expensive #1 receiver and a second receiver that may be looking to earn over 15-20 million a year on a second contract. Some teams won't be able or willing to afford it.

The Tyreek Hill case is the extreme. A talent that is traded because his contract is too expensive to afford. The chiefs decided to move him before losing him for only a compensatory 3rd round pick.

My point is, the saints have to be patient and not over pay right now. Wait for the draft, grab a receiver or two, and/or look for a trade or to sign a released player after the draft.
