Trade back into the 1st.

I would only do this if I knew for a fact that Sean Payton was coaching next year and we could fetch 2 first round drafts picks for him.

Did the coach get a job yet in broadcasting! I know he was looking and had interviews, but had not heard he signed a contract with anyone. I do believe also he will be back next or the following year if a good situation comes open. I frankly hope he does as the compensation would be great.

By most accounts, Sean Payton is still looking for a TV deal. If he doesn't get the deal he is looking for, I think there's a good chance he gets back into coaching next year if the right job comes available.

The Gruden trade was the benchmark for a coaching trade. MANY people here think it is a pipe dream to think the Saints would get anywhere near the draft compensation that the Raiders received for Gruden. I disagree with this. He would have been away from coaching for a year, but he has put many more skins on the wall. I think the Saints would get at least a first and second round pick for Sean Payton, possibly more.

Gruden was 40-28 in four seasons with the Raiders, for a .588 winning percentage, including playoffs, prior to the trade.

Sean Payton was 161-97 in sixteen seasons with the Saints, for a .624 winning percentage, including playoffs.
