Pickett at 16?

Why would the Saints draft a rookie QB who isn't ready when they told us they're in win-now mode and have kept the same coaching staff, re-signed Winston and made no big moves in FA?

What on Earth are you talking about?

They didn't make big moves? They tried to send three first round picks and 40+ million a year to Bill Cosby Jr.

After Deshaun fleeced the Browns, the Saints have been anything but "win now mode." They let two Pro Bowl players they loved walk in free agency for deals below top of market, and they have refused to pay top dollar for Jarvis or Tyrann or any other free agent. The team has visibly gotten worse this off-season and is on the record for trying to spend *less* money and getting their cap back down.

I think we're set for the next couple years well enough with Winston/Dalton/Hill

This talking point is equally silly. The Saints clearly don't feel that way -- they gave Winston a short contract that could easily be terminated after *one* season. They gave Dalton a backup deal and made Hill a TE.

The Saints may not pick a QB, but the only credible argument I have seen against it -- this year's QB class sucks -- has nothing to do with the Saints.

By every metric of the Saints' own behavior -- Deshaun, Jameis' contract, trading for another 1st this year and sacrificing future high picks, visible diligence in scrutinizing QB options, attempting to trade for Mac last year -- the Saints are acting like a team that will take a QB they like if that person exists.

If Pickett or Willis are there at 16 and the Saints don't pick them, it's because they don't view them as decent likelihood franchise QBs. If they do, they are not only picking them, they very likely may trade up a few spots to ensure if they fall out of Top 10.

Not saying what *I want*, but what I think reality is.
