Saints draft WR Chris Olave

After the trade with the Eagles most Saints fans wanted OT and WR with their two first round picks before the draft. The Saints drafting an Ohio State Buckeye might be the most predictable thing based on their affinity for the program. With Wilson gone the pick before Olave was likely their first or second wide receiver on their board. The trade up was necessary. The Saints did their homework. Wide receivers so far ( currently pick 25) went at 8 London, 10 Wilson, 11 Olave, 12 Williams, 16 Dotson, 18 Burks... big trades at WR this offseason for $100 million contracts Hill, Adams, now AJ Brown, and Samuel is asking for a new deal, and new deals for Diggs and Cooper. Michael Thomas now ranks 12th in Average per year. Getting a top wide receiver was this teams top need and makes more money ball sense than ever. The question on the trade is how much better is Olave than Dotson or Burks. I will happily trust the front office on this one. Olave was a team captain on a loaded team. He is the best route runner in the draft and super productive. There is an argument to be made for Jameison Williams but the front office obviously had Olave higher on their board. Olave to me sounds like a ready made pro with a strong work ethic who complements Michael Thomas with deep speed and great separation.
